Job description

The Social Quarters Manager reports to the Board of Officers and is responsible for actively overseeing the day-to-day operations of the social quarters by ensuring a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment for members and guests. The Social Quarters Manager ensures that decorum is enforced and oversees adherence to lodge rules regarding behavior, membership verification, and restricted areas.

The Social Quarters Manager is considered a working manger that includes bar, kitchen and staff management, event coordination, member engagement, and compliance with both Lodge and State regulations.

Key Responsibilities: Operations & Management

  • Oversee daily functioning of the social quarters including cleanliness, setup, and closing procedures Ensure compliance with all Lodge policies, Moose International standards, and state alcohol and health regulations Manage bar inventory, ordering, and stock control Manage kitchen inventory, ordering, and stock control Monitor cash handling, POS systems, and accurate financial reporting Maintain a safe, secure, and hospitable atmosphere for members and guests Attend monthly Board of Officers meetings as the Board requests. However, from the onset of hire, it will be on a monthly/bi-monthly basis
  • Supports and ensures all areas of the Moose General Laws and policies are followed
  • Other duties as included in the General Laws handbooks

Staff & Customer Service

  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise bartenders, kitchen and support staff Handle conflicts or member concerns in a professional, respectful manner Ensure high standards of customer service and a friendly atmosphere

Events & Community Engagement

  • Coordinate with the Activities Committee Chairman, Board of Officers and volunteer members for successful event execution Assist with promoting events via social media, bulletin boards & smart board

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure all licensing, health, and safety inspections are current and passed & filed Knowledge of Charitable Gaming and Bingo Regulations and Procedures and reporting including electronic gaming, paper pull tabs, and other games Track and report weekly/monthly status, revenues and expenses to the Board of Officers​ Enforce Moose Lodge membership-only policies and verify member status Learn and understand the Moose Private Policy that must be enforced and followed Ensure incident reports are filled out promptly when needed

✅ Qualifications:

  • Prior experience managing a bar, kitchen, or similar hospitality venue a plus Strong supervisory and leadership skills Leads by example, uplifting staff and members in busy and stressful times Maintains composure in stressful situations Excellent time management and organizational skills and attention to detail Cost management and inventory control preferred Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to traverse all parts of the Lodge and Social Quarters quickly May have prolonged periods of standing at times Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times Knowledge of POS systems and basic accounting Ability to multitask and manage a team under pressure Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Familiarity with the values and operations of fraternal organizations is a plus

Preferred Skills, License/Certification:

  • TIPS or Responsible Alcohol Service certification or obtained within 60 days of hire ServSafe Food Safety Certification or equivalent required or obtained within 60 days of hire Knowledge of hiring practices and criminal background screening required Conflict resolution and staff development skills

  • Smooth daily operations with reliable, motivated staff Strong member satisfaction and increased engagement Well-attended events that boost camaraderie and revenue A positive, respectful atmosphere that reflects Moose values 60-day positive review by Board of Officers

Pay: To be discussed, however this is a salaried position with no less than less than 35 hours per week
