SUMMARY
The Social Media Director is a senior leader responsible for shaping and driving integrated social strategies that build brands and deliver measurable results. As a part of the Integrated Communications team, this role partners across disciplines to transform platform behavior and audience insight into high-performing social programs. With experience leading B2B accounts-particularly in building products, construction, or industrial sectors-this individual blends storytelling and strategy to fuel engagement and achieve client goals. A critical connector and compelling communicator, the Social Media Director is a trusted advisor to clients and a go-to resource for internal teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Serve as a senior leader on the Integrated Communications team, providing strategic direction and mentorship across accounts
  • Lead the development of integrated social media strategies that unify organic content, influencer marketing, and paid amplification
  • Translate client business goals-particularly in B2B industries-into social strategies that drive measurable performance
  • Lead influencer strategies: identifying and vetting creators, developing campaign concepts, negotiating and managing contracts, owning budgets and reporting on performance
  • Partner with creative, media, and analytics teams to develop cross-functional campaigns rooted in cultural relevance and platform fluency
  • Define success metrics aligned to client KPIs (awareness, engagement, traffic, conversions, etc.) and lead performance optimizations
  • Bring platform insights, audience behaviors, and social engagement trends to clients and internal teams
  • Supervises and mentors mid-level and junior team members: sets goals, assigns work, and manages performance through ongoing 1:1 coaching and structured reviews

TASKS
  • Advise on channel mix, audience segmentation, content formats, and platform-specific best practices for organic social media assets
  • Collaborate with media team on paid social assets that will perform both organically, with boosting, and as part of a paid social campaign
  • Lead strategic presentations and performance recaps for clients and executive teams
  • Support new business proposals and pitch participation as needed
  • Participate in departmental leadership meetings and contribute to overall agency growth

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years of experience in social media strategy, influencer marketing, or integrated digital planning, preferably within an agency environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in integrating organic and paid social, with a strong understanding of social media platform capabilities
  • Experience leading B2B accounts, especially in building products or construction
  • Hands-on experience building and running influencer programs, including creator sourcing, contract negotiation, and budget management
  • Senior level marketer and communicator with the ability to gain client confidence
  • Passion for social media culture, platform innovation, and creator collaboration
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Occasional after-hours work to respond to time-sensitive client or platform needs
  • Ability to travel domestically during the work week
