Job Description
Summary of Position
The Women's Soccer Head Coach is responsible for planning and administration of the Women's Soccer program. The head coach provides vision, leadership and oversight for current student-athletes, prospective students-athletes, alumni, parents and supporters of the program.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction and development in sport-specific skills, team concepts, physical conditioning, and safety for student-athletes in both individual and team settings.
  • Identify talented and academically qualified prospective student-athletes aligned with institutional mission.
  • Foster the holistic development of student-athletes through guidance in personal growth, academic success, and life skills.
  • Demonstrate competitive progress consistent with program and institutional goals.
  • Plan and execute practices and competitions, analyze performance through film, and facilitate team meetings to support development and strategy.
  • Maintain acceptable student-athlete retention rates to the team and/or institution.
  • Create sport-specific practice and game plans, analyze film and facilitate team meetings.
  • Supervise Assistant Coach(es) and/or graduate fellow(s).
  • Oversee program compliance following NCAA, MIAC, and Augsburg University rules and regulations.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive team environment.
  • Collaborate with Admissions to support enrollment goals.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Oversee budget management, fundraising, travel planning and program organization.
  • Oversee alumni/parent communication and involvement, including organizing events as appropriate.
  • Organize and participate in team community-service event(s).
  • Manage and/or participate in camps and clinics.
  • 30% of the position will include an assigned duty from Athletic Director related to maintaining the Athletics department, including athletic equipment, concessions, game management, student-athlete academic support and administrative duties.
  • All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).

Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Work is performed primarily on outdoor soccer fields and athletic facilities, with regular exposure to heat, cold, rain, wind, and varying field conditions during practices and competitions.
  • Requires evening and weekend work, as well as frequent travel for games, recruiting, and team-related activities.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods during practices, matches, training sessions, and recruiting events.
  • Ability to demonstrate soccer-specific techniques and drills, and safely use training and coaching equipment as needed.
  • Frequent use of technology for video analysis, recruiting communication, scheduling, and administrative responsibilities.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, and setup of equipment such as goals, balls, mannequins, benches, tents, or training gear (typically up to 25-50 pounds).
  • Ability to respond quickly in dynamic and fast-paced environments to ensure student-athlete safety and effective game management.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least three (3) years of coaching and recruiting experience required, preferably at the college level.
  • Knowledge and adherence to the MIAC Code of Ethics and ability to follow MIAC and NCAA Division III guidelines and regulations, while exhibiting behavior that represents a positive image of the athletic program and the University.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • At least two (2) years of full-time head coaching experience, preferably at the college level.

Additional Information
Compensation & Benefits at Augsburg
  • The compensation range is $57,000 to $63,000 annually, DOQ.
