Clear Creek Federal is seeking a Tier 2 Operations Engineer who will support enterprise virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), distributed data systems, and cloud/on-premises environments for a federal government customer. The successful candidate will provide advanced system administration, VMware Horizon administration, end-user support, and operational monitoring for globally dispersed users and mission-critical systems.

The candidate will work within a team environment to ensure system availability, security compliance, performance optimization, and operational continuity across Linux and Windows platforms.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Administer and manage VMware Horizon 8 Connection Server environments.
  • Administer and support VMware Horizon 8 Virtual Desktops and Published Applications.
  • Perform installation, configuration, patching, maintenance, and troubleshooting of VDI infrastructure components.
  • Provide Tier II/Tier III end-user support and troubleshooting for customers located globally across multiple time zones.
  • Perform system administration duties for Linux and Windows-based servers in both on-premises and cloud-hosted environments.
  • Monitor, maintain, and support distributed data systems to ensure operational availability and performance.
  • Conduct routine system health checks, log analysis, performance tuning, and incident response activities.
  • Support user account management, permissions, access control, and security compliance requirements.
  • Assist with system upgrades, vulnerability remediation, backup/recovery operations, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and system configuration guides.
  • Coordinate with engineering, cybersecurity, and operations teams to resolve technical issues and implement system enhancements.
  • Participate in on-call support rotations and maintenance activities as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience may be substituted.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure environments.
  • Hands-on experience administering VMware Horizon 8 environments, including Connection Servers, desktop pools, and application publishing.
  • Experience supporting Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience supporting cloud-based infrastructure and hybrid environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and customer support skills in enterprise environments.
  • Experience monitoring distributed systems and responding to operational incidents.
  • Knowledge of enterprise networking concepts, authentication services, and virtualization technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a federal contracting environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Active Top-Secret Clearance. Well qualified candidates will be considered with a Secret clearance.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience supporting federal government or DoD environments.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and compliance requirements such as NIST Risk Management Framework.
  • Experience with scripting and automation technologies such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure.
  • Relevant industry certifications preferred, including:
    • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
    • CompTIA Security+
    • Microsoft or Linux certifications

Salary at Seneca is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The range of this position in other geographic locations may differ. The projected compensation range for this position is below. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of our total compensation package for employees.

$55,000—$76,000 USD
