POSITION PURPOSE
The School Counselor supports students at Snake River Opportunities School (SROS) through academic guidance, student wellness, and post-secondary planning in a virtual learning environment. This half-time position includes collaboration with staff, direct support for students, and participation in systems that promote student success in an online school model.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Idaho Pupil Service Staff Certificate with a School Counselor endorsement.
  • Experience in online, alternative, or virtual education preferred.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of academic advising, student wellness, and college/career readiness.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and families in a remote setting.
  • Commitment to student growth, support, and continuous improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide academic, wellness, and post-secondary counseling support in a virtual school setting.
  • Support students with academic planning, graduation progress, post-secondary options, and college and career readiness.
  • Collaborate with teacher-mentors, student support staff, and families to address barriers to student success.
  • Coordinate follow-up and support related to attendance and engagement concerns in partnership with the Attendance Clerk and school staff.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor 504 accommodation plans.
  • Participate in student support systems, schoolwide collaboration, career-connected learning activities, and Adventure Learning experiences connected to student wellness and growth.

WORK SETTING: Work from home, with periodic in-person team meetings, student activities, Adventure Learning experiences, and face-to-face student support responsibilities throughout the year, including occasional extended or overnight commitments as needed.
SALARY: Placement on the Snake River School District salary schedule based on experience.
CLOSING DATE: Open Until Filled
START DATE: May 29, 2026. This position will begin with a summer school support assignment from May 29 through June 26, 2026. If the arrangement is determined to be a good fit for both the employee and the district, employment will continue for the 2026 2027 school year beginning August 10, 2026.
