What is an SMT operator?

An SMT operator monitors and maintains equipment used to create electronic circuits with surface mount technology (SMT). Your primary job duties involve operating an SMT machine to mount electronic components directly onto circuit boards. As an SMT operator, you play a pivotal role in the production of devices and equipment used in a range of industries, from auto manufacturing to electronics. To gain entry into this career, you should have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED certificate with SMT experience. You can also pursue a college degree in electronics or SMT operator certification through a specialized training course to gain a competitive edge. In addition to educational requirements, you need to have electronics, automated equipment, and soldering skills, along with sharp eyesight and excellent dexterity.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an SMT operator, and why are they important?

To thrive as an SMT Operator, you need knowledge of surface mount technology processes, attention to detail, and typically a high school diploma or technical certification in electronics. Familiarity with SMT assembly machines, solder paste printers, reflow ovens, and quality inspection tools is crucial. Strong problem-solving skills, teamwork, and the ability to follow detailed instructions help individuals excel in this role. These skills ensure efficient production, minimize defects, and maintain high-quality electronic assemblies in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What are some common challenges SMT operators face during the assembly process, and how can they be addressed?

SMT Operators often encounter challenges such as component misplacement, solder paste defects, and machine malfunctions during the assembly process. These issues can lead to production delays or quality concerns if not promptly addressed. To overcome them, operators typically perform regular equipment maintenance, follow strict quality control procedures, and collaborate closely with engineering and quality assurance teams. Continuous training and attention to detail are also key to minimizing errors and ensuring smooth production runs.

Job description

Company Overviewย

The Compliance Services Organization didn't exist. We built it.

MP1 Solutions pioneered the Compliance Services Organization (CSO) โ€” a new category of operating partner built to replace the fragmented vendor model that has defined compliance programs for decades. Built on the foundation of MedPro Disposal, the nation's largest privately-held medical waste company serving 35,000+ providers across 48 states over the past 15 years, MP1 Solutions extends that operational infrastructure, vendor network, and customer trust into a category we're actively building โ€” and leading. We're doing it with a technology-forward approach, actively developing the AI infrastructure that will make this model smarter, faster, and more scalable as we grow.

What we do:ย We operate as the single compliance partner for non-acute healthcare facilities โ€” consolidating every obligation into one coordinated program, assigning one dedicated account manager as the point of accountability, and actively managing the underlying vendor ecosystem through continuous evaluation, negotiation, and optimization on the practice's behalf.

Why it matters:ย Regulated facilities across the country are managing compliance the same fragmented way they always have. We're changing that โ€” and we're looking for people who want to help build what comes next.

Our technology:ย We're actively building the AI infrastructure that sits behind this model โ€” automating compliance tracking, surfacing risks before they become problems, and creating a system that gets smarter with every client we add. If you want to build at the intersection of compliance and technology, you're in the right place.

Our impact:ย Our clients never have to worry about something falling through the cracks โ€” obligations are coordinated, tracked, and documented in one place. We audit costs, eliminate overcharges, and deliver proof of compliance that always keeps practices inspection ready. Every client has one dedicated account manager who owns their program end to end. And unlike a traditional vendor relationship, our model is designed to get better over time โ€” continuously re-evaluated, optimized, and improved with every client we serve.

Position Overview:

In this role, youโ€™ll manage both inbound and outbound sales from our Naperville, IL office, leveraging phone, Zoom, and email to engage medical decision-makers nationwide. With access to a steady stream of warm leads, proven sales frameworks, and ongoing coaching, youโ€™ll focus on identifying, engaging, and converting multi-location healthcare organizations into loyal, long-term clients by delivering centralized, cost-saving compliance solutions that enhance operational efficiency and patient safety.

Weโ€™re especially interested in experienced sales professionals who have successfully introduced multiple products or solutions within the same customer account. Experience in healthcare, compliance services, or other bundled B2B environments is a strong plus, particularly for those comfortable managing high-volume customer relationships and transactions.ย

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively drive both strategic outbound and inbound outreach efforts to expand our customer base.
  • Educate prospective clients on the benefits of our comprehensive services using a solution-oriented approach.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to expand service offerings within existing accounts.
  • Utilize CRM data and industry insights to personalize outreach strategies and enhance conversion rates.
  • Conduct high-volume calls, emails, and virtual meetings to build trust and foster strong relationships.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within Salesforce (preferred) to track sales pipeline and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, operations, and onboarding teams to ensure an exceptional customer experience from start to finish.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in hunter-style sales or account management, preferably in a high-activity environment.
  • Demonstrated experience selling multiple products or solutions into the same account (multi-solution selling) โ€” not a single product or service line.
  • Experience selling into healthcare, compliance services, or similarly regulated/bundled environments, with comfort managing high transaction volume.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Results-driven mindset with strong motivation to exceed established targets.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and CRM platforms (Salesforce experience preferred).
  • Familiarity with the Entrepreneurial Operating System is advantageous.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Earning Potential: Base salary + uncapped commissions (OTE: $75,000โ€“$85,000+)
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans covering individuals and families
  • Defined career advancement pathways with mentorship and continual professional development opportunities
  • A mission-driven, collaborative, and fast-paced team culture where your contributions make a tangible impact
  • Generous paid time off and holiday benefits supporting a healthy work-life balance

Application Process:

If you're shortlisted, weโ€™ll invite you to complete a short sales skills assessment before your first interview. This helps us understand your strengths and how you approach common sales scenarios.
