Whiting Gardens Rehabilitation and Nursing Center a premier skilled nursing facility located in Ocean County, New Jersey is seeking to hire a full - Time Smoking Monitor that will assist in a safe smoking protocol to ensure residents can smoke in the designated smoking area. The Smoking Monitor will secure smoking materials and safety equipment upon the conclusion of designated smoking times.

Ø  The hours for this position are Mon-Fri 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM;


Essential Functions:

  • Monitor resident’s capacity and notify Licensed staff to adjust plans as needed.
  • Assist clients in developing personalized plans for quitting smoking
  • Provide education and resources to clients on the dangers of smoking and the benefits of quitting
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to clients
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client progress and treatment plans
  • Assist residents and place Aprons on and monitor smoking activity
  • Take residents from/to rooms after the session
  • Clean the smoking section/area after each session.
  • Reports any allegations of Abuse and Neglect to their Direct supervisor
  • Any duties assigned by supervisor

Education, & Experience Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must be able to read written directions, comprehend verbal instructions.
  • Working knowledge of office machines (copier, fax, phone systems, etc.)
  • Good organizational and communication skills. Ability to relate positively, effectively and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other facility staff. Possess special interest in, and a positive attitude about, working with long-term care residents and the elderly.
  • The responsibilities of this position involve significant physical activities including standing, lifting (up to 30 pounds unassisted), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and twisting.
