About the team:

At SmartAsset, we are on a mission to help people make smart financial decisions. But connecting high-intent investors with top-tier financial professionals doesn't happen by accident—it happens through the strategic, high-energy efforts of our Sales and Account Management Organization.

As a Partnership Development Manager, you will join a high-performing sales and account management team that drives our B2B growth strategy. Reporting directly to SmartAsset's Vice President of Sales and Account Management, you will work closely with sales leadership within a collaborative environment that champions your ideas, and a clear, highly visible path to making an impact on SmartAsset's mission and growth.

About the Job:

The Partner Development Manager, Business Development Channels, is a strategic, high-impact role responsible for securing and expanding relationships with Business Development partners, including large wirehouses, banks, and decentralized Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) firms. The primary objective is to gain product approval and adoption, drive revenue growth through these channels, and develop relationships with new and existing Business Development partners.

Responsibilities:

Partnership Acquisition & Product Approval

  • Partnership Expansion: Identify, prioritize, and pursue new strategic partnership opportunities within targeted Business Development partners.
  • Due Diligence Navigation: Serve as the internal and external lead for the due diligence process, working closely with compliance, legal, and product teams to successfully secure product approval and distribution placement on partner platforms.
  • Relationship Mapping: Develop deep, multi-level relationships within partner organizations, targeting key decision-makers across product, sales, and marketing teams.

Strategic Relationship Management & Growth

  • Revenue Expansion: Own the ongoing growth and performance of assigned partnerships, consistently identifying opportunities for increased sales volume and product adoption within the channel.
  • Sales Enablement: Coordinate product training, presentations, and webinars for prospective and current financial advisor clients within our Business Development universe.

Contracts, Negotiations and Compliance

  • Contract Negotiation: Partner with VP of Sales & Account Management on complex negotiations for Master Services Agreements (MSAs), partnership contracts, and subsequent renewals, ensuring favorable terms for pricing, service levels, and legal obligations.
  • Pricing Strategy: Coordinate with VP of Sales & Account Management and Sales Operations and Strategy on pricing discussions, negotiations and implementation.
  • Compliance Adherence: Ensure all partnership activities, contracts, and marketing materials adhere to strict regulatory and compliance requirements specific to our partners, the financial services industry, and SmartAsset.

Cobranding, Marketing & Enablement

  • Joint Marketing: Collaborate with the internal Marketing department and partner marketing teams to develop and execute targeted, co-branded marketing campaigns and sales collateral.
  • Content Development: Assist in creating high-quality partner-facing content, including pitch decks, training guides, and case studies.
  • Driving Inbound Interest: Collaborate with B2B marketing and SmartAsset Sales on strategies to drive inbound advisor prospects from our Business Development partners.
Skills/Experience you have:
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, channel management, or strategic partnership management, specifically within the B2B financial services industry (FinTech, FinServ, Asset Management, Broker-Dealer, or RIA space).

  • Proven track record of leading complex contract and price negotiations with large enterprise organizations, including contract of Master Services Agreements and vendor review processes.

  • A proven ability to effectively collaborate across multiple departments including sales, marketing, legal, compliance, and product.

  • Deep understanding of the operational structures, compliance requirements, and product approval processes within major financial institutions (wirehouses, banks, large RIAs).

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.

Skills/Experience preferred:

  • Experience as a project manager or lead on cross functional projects

  • Existing relationships with banks, wirehouses, registered investment advisory firms and/or turnkey asset management platforms (TAMPs)

  • Experience working with marketing and business development teams at financial advisory firms

  • Knowledge of wealth management and financial advisory industry trends and news

  • Proficiency with sales enablement tools (Salesforce, etc) and Google Workspace (Sheets, Slides, etc)

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Must be able to communicate via phone calls and/or video conferences (mainly for concierge and sales roles)

Available Benefits and Perks:
  • Fully Remote Work: All roles are fully remote within the contiguous U.S., giving you flexibility to do your best work from where you thrive.

  • Comprehensive Health Coverage: Multiple Medical, Dental, and Vision plan options through trusted national carriers—so you can choose what fits your needs.

  • Life & Disability Protection: Company-paid Life/AD&D coverage, with options to add supplemental life and disability plans for extra peace of mind.

  • Financial Wellness: 401(k) with employer match, pre-tax savings through FSA and HSA options, and equity packages offered for every role.
