What key responsibilities would you assume in this role?

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, PPE requirements, safe lifting and rigging practices, and established safety standards.
  • Perform pre-task risk assessments and exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions are identified.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant toolroom environment using 5S principles.

Toolroom & Team Collaboration

  • Communicate work status, priorities, and outcomes with the Technical Manufacturing Manager.
  • Collaborate with fellow Toolroom Technicians to troubleshoot mold failures and develop effective repair solutions.
  • Participate in shift handoffs to ensure seamless continuity across shifts.
  • Support the development of team members through mentorship, training assistance, and knowledge sharing.

Mold Repair & Tooling Support

  • Interpret and modify 2D and 3D engineering prints, CAD models, and GD&T to assess tooling conditions.
  • Diagnose mold failures using scientific problem-solving methods (PDCA) and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Perform precision measurements using manual and optical metrology equipment.
  • Execute injection mold disassembly, repair, and assembly using proper sequencing and surface protection techniques.
  • Perform light machining operations including milling, turning, grinding, cutting, and basic CNC/EDM support.
  • Coordinate outsourced tooling repairs with external vendors, managing timelines, logistics, and technical communication.
  • Document work orders, tooling history, and trends using CMMS and ERP systems.
  • Manage tooling consumables and inventory through CMMS.

New Product Launch Support

  • Conduct new mold inspections using standardized checklists.
  • Partner with Engineering to support tooling validation and system performance testing.
  • Perform light machining and tooling modifications to support successful mold startup and validation.
