As an Exercise Physiologist, you will work as part of a philanthropic grant program supporting underserved communities by developing individualized exercise prescriptions and overseeing exercise progression for patients with cardiovascular disease in a rehabilitative setting. In this role, you will focus on exercise programming, gym supervision, and training with smart-gym equipment, while collaborating closely with Endocrinology's interdisciplinary care team on health and fitness assessments, risk screening, body composition evaluations, and medical weight management interventions from both clinical and research perspectives. This position offers meaningful and rewarding work, with a primary location at Lutheran Hospital and occasional floating to other smart gym sites, including Langston Hughes, Stephanie Tubbs Jones, and additional endo smart gym locations as needed. Travel to Main Campus may be required up to once per week, along with cross-coverage support between gym locations.

A caregiver in this role works flexible shifts ranging from 7:00 a.m. -- 7:00 p.m., with primary hours Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. -- 5:00 p.m., with occasional later hours and potential Saturday coverage.

The primary location for this role is Lutheran Hospital; however, occasional floating may be required to other smart gym sites, including Langston Hughes, Stephanie Tubbs Jones, and additional endo smart gym locations as needed. Travel to Main Campus may be required up to once per week, along with cross-coverage support between gym locations.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide patient testing before and after rehabilitation, including strength, body composition, flexibility,balanceand endurance.
  • Provide exercise prescriptions for patientsutilizingtest data, patientstatusand current medication regimen.
  • Update exercise prescriptions according to patientresponse.
  • Implement concepts of cardiac secondary prevention.
  • Recognize contraindications to exercise and abnormal patient responses to exercise.
  • Appropriately respond to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.
  • Provide exercise information to patients,peersand the community through public speaking and education classes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in exercise-related field
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Cross

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • One year of experience in both strength and cardio training
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Willing to float to other smart gyms as needed

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time and ability to help patients stand and walk.
  • Will require some lifting, bending, twisting of upper extremity to help limited patients.
  • Must be able to adapt to different room temperatures in exercise.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $18.88

Maximum hourly: $28.80
