Company Overview

Watson Building Group, LLC (WBG) is a newly formed vertical construction company. WBG specializes in ground-up commercial, high-rise, multifamily and industrial building projects with a strong emphasis on concrete-intensive structures, including hotels and other complex building projects. As we grow our vertical construction portfolio, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead projects from preconstruction through closeout.

Position Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, execution, and financial performance of assigned vertical construction projects. This role requires hands-on experience with ground-up construction, structural and cast-in-place concrete, building systems, subcontractor management, and owner coordination. The Project Manager serves as a key leader on the project team and the primary point of contact for owners, design teams, and key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, manage, and deliver ground-up vertical construction projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract documents and quality standards.
  • Lead and coordinate all phases of construction, including preconstruction planning, buyout, scheduling, execution, and project closeout.
  • Develop and manage master project schedules, short-term look-ahead schedules, and recovery plans as needed.
  • Oversee and coordinate superintendents, project engineers, field staff, and subcontractors to ensure proper sequencing and productivity.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, scope alignment, contract compliance, and performance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and consultants.
  • Proactively identify, track, and mitigate project risks related to schedule, cost, quality, and safety.
  • Manage project budgets, cost forecasting, change orders, pay applications, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, building codes, permitting, inspections, and local/state regulations.
  • Enforce quality control standards and oversee inspections to ensure work meets specifications and industry standards.
  • Champion jobsite safety by enforcing company safety policies and ensuring compliance with OSHA requirements.
  • Lead project meetings including owner meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, and internal planning sessions.
  • Support hiring, mentoring, performance evaluations, and professional development of project team members.
  • Coordinate project closeout activities including punch lists, as-built documentation, warranties, and final turnover.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by executive management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience managing ground-up vertical construction projects.
  • Proven experience with concrete-intensive structures such as hotels, multi-story buildings, or commercial facilities.
  • Strong understanding of structural concrete, building envelopes, MEP coordination, and interior build-outs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple subcontractors and complex project schedules.
  • Proficiency with project management software, scheduling tools, and construction documentation systems (Preferably Procore)
  • Strong financial acumen including budgeting, cost control, and forecasting.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, growing organization.
Compensation & Benefits

We offer a competitive and comprehensive compensation package, including:

  • Competitive salary
  • Health, dental, vision, life, short- and long-term disability insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and paid holidays starting immediately
  • Professional development and career growth opportunities
