POSITION SUMMARY

 

Barton Malow's Yard operation is seeking a self-motivated Mechanic who is looking for a challenge. The main function of this position is to make sure all small equipment is in job ready condition.  Must be able to troubleshoot issues and perform the most economical repairs in a safe and timely manner. The Yard provides room for growth within our large Construction operations into Heavy Equipment and Logistics.

 


KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Diagnose and resolve service issues efficiently while maintaining the highest quality standards and minimizing repair costs whenever possible.
  • Inspect and test completed repairs to ensure equipment is fully operational and jobsite-ready.
  • Accurately complete and submit work orders in a timely manner.
  • Follow all safety procedures and properly utilize required safety equipment and devices at all times.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; small engine repair experience and/or technical knowledge preferred.
  • Valid chauffeur license required for operation of company vehicles.
  • Proficient in welding and torch cutting/burning operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of equipment maintenance, diagnostics, service, and repair procedures.
  • Experience servicing and repairing two-cycle and four-cycle engines.
  • Knowledge of gas, diesel, and propane engine systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair drive systems and related mechanical components.
  • Skilled in repairing, adjusting, and rebuilding fuel systems.
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance, including tune-ups and oil changes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and components.
  • Experience working with and repairing exhaust systems.
  • Ability to service and repair hydraulic pumps and motors.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment while operating power tools and shop equipment.
  • Ensure all equipment contains proper safety decals, warning labels, and operating manuals.
  • Ability to independently respond to field service calls, diagnose issues, and complete repairs or determine replacement needs with the goal of minimizing downtime and restoring jobsite operations quickly and efficiently.
