Position Summary
As a part of the Next Gen team, the Young Adults Pastor/Ministry Lead is required to perform a range of duties including team leadership, strategy creation and implementation, empowerment, and goal-setting for the broader Young Adults ministry.
Anticipated Weekly Hours: 20
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Young Adults Pastor/Ministry Lead is required to perform a range of duties including, but not limited to:
  • Responsible for inspirational leadership and ongoing development of the Young Adults ministry
    • Strategically develop the ongoing trajectory of Young Adults
    • Coordinate seasonal all campus Young Adult Events
    • Lead key volunteers to create connection and community among River Valley's young adult population
  • Manage the on-going leadership development pipeline within Young Adults
    • Identify, recruit and train up new Campus Volunteer Leads to build the small group culture for Young Adults of each campus.
    • Pursue ongoing expansion of pipeline to ensure current leaders are growing and flourishing
    • Resource the Campus Leads as needed to help them grow the Young Adults ministry at their campus
  • Ensure all campus Young Adult small groups align with the vision of Young Adults
    • Continue to grow Young Adults small groups across all campuses
    • Meet and connect with people of River Valley Church in the 18-28 age range
    • Work with Campus Volunteer Leads to ensure proper planning, preparation, execution and follow-up is occurring for all Young Adults small groups.
    • Provide resources and direction to volunteer leaders as needed
  • Responsible for leading the way with ongoing connection and development opportunities of River Valley Church attendees in the 18-28 age range
    • Intentionally work to increase the opportunities for Young Adults attendees to be challenged in personal, professional, and spiritual ways
  • Work with the Communications team on marketing materials for Young Adults
  • Ensure necessary communication is happening with River Valley staff regarding Young Adults events
  • Responsible for the financial stewardship of Young Adults budgeted resources
  • Develop relationships and create strategies for ministry at local College/Universities.
    • Working with campuses to develop a strong small groups culture on college campuses
    • Work together with Para Church ministries such as CRU, Chi Alpha, Athletes in Action, FCA.
    • Be intentional about building relationships with college coaches, professors, and directors to help further the ministry done at college campuses
    • Oversee outreach and recruiting activities at the various campuses
  • Collaborate with Next Gen leadership through regular Lead Team meetings and ongoing partnership with the Next Gen Pastor to ensure the Young Adults ministry advances the broader vision and strategic direction of Next Gen ministry and aligns with the mission, vision, and values of River Valley Church.

Qualifications
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
  • Proficient in public speaking, administrative, and leadership skills
  • Experience in managing teams and developing others
  • Proficient in Google Suite, preferred
  • Solid sermon-writing skills, including understanding of Biblical exposition skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to raise up leaders (reproduce yourself)

Education
Ideal candidate will have an Associates degree or higher in a ministry related area of study, however, any combination of education and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described with an emphasis on continual learning will be considered.
Experience
A successful candidate should have at least 2 years related experience
