HOURS
Monday - Thursday, 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Occasional building rentals or special events may require later or additional hours.
NATURE OF WORK
Under general supervision of the Government Building Superintendent or Recreation Supervisor, performs janitorial work of average difficulty acting as building custodian on evenings for a facility large and complex enough to require the services of a skilled janitor.
Job Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Provides exceptional customer service to multigenerational and multicultural building users and staff.
- Works with Custodial team to set goals, prioritize tasks, and uphold best practice policies.
- Assists with scheduled preventative maintenance of building systems.
- Maintains a regular routine for keeping facility clean and safe.
- Cleans and maintains carpet and tiled floors including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, stripping, waxing and burnishing.
- Sets up tables, chairs, appliances and/or displays needed for building users.
- Performs minor building maintenance and repair.
- Works with outside vendors for specialized maintenance services.
- Maintains supplies and equipment inventory.
- Keeps tools and supplies neat and organized.
- Supports and enforces City policies, procedures, operations and safety rules.
- Operates mobile tablet and computer to access internet, apps, online file storage, shared task list, and facility schedules.
- Operates small engine equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE
- Must possess a valid Class D driver's license.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or General Education Development Certificate (GED).
- Experience in the use of a personal computer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Fluency in Spanish, Somali, Vietnamese or other non-English language prevalent in the City of Richfield.
- Previous custodial experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in high precarious places and confined spaces. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme hot and cold as well as other types of inclement weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and work with exposure to loud noises from operating equipment. The employee will need to be able to use a wide variety of cleaning agents and chemicals. The employee will be required to wear personal protective equipment under appropriate circumstances.

Must have the ability to:
- Essential functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for moderate physical activity such as standing, walking, kneeling, and sitting.
- Ability to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift objects over 75 pounds.
- Resilient to cleaning agents and chemicals.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
