Job description

Summary 
 
The Driver will be responsible and oversee the loading and unloading of the trailer to ensure efficiently. Transport and deliver products to customer by applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and roads in the area. The Driver will be responsible for driving to and from designated location, verifying load to shipping papers, maintaining record of duty status according to state and federal regulations and performing pre-trip and post trip inspections. 
  • Inspect truck for defects and safe operating conditions before, during and after trips and submit a written report on the conditions of the truck at the beginning and end of each trip or tour of duty
  • Check shipping papers to determine the nature of load and verify for accuracy
  • Abide by Texas or FMCSA Hours of Service
  • Load and unload trucks with forklift
  • General knowledge of minor repair (replace safety lights, repair electrical connections & etc)
  • Small engine repairs and general maintenance / repairs 
  • Report all accidents and incidents involving drivers and company equipment
  • Report highway safety hazards noted in route
  • Promptly report any delays due to breakdowns, weather or traffic conditions or other emergencies
  • Maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations including driver's record of duty status, mileage records and other records required by law
  • Be able to maneuver and handle tractor/trailers up to 53'

Experience:
  • 2+ years driving experience 
 
Knowledge and Skills: 
  • Have a driving record in good standing, free of any major violations
  • Must have knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems
  • Must have knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspections, and maintenance
  • Have the ability to work well with others
  • Ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees
