Job description

The job of Small Engine Repair Technician is done for the purpose/s of maintaining a wide variety of groundsequipment and other equipment powered by small gasoline, diesel engines; identifying repair and/orreplacement needs; providing necessary information on the proper uses of the equipment; and assisting otherskilled trades as required.
• Cleans, sharpens and lubricates a variety of motorized equipment (e.g. reel mowers, blades, hedgetrimmer, edgers, trimmers, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring units are operating safely and correctly.
• Diagnoses and repairs problems and/or failures in a wide variety of equipment (e.g. mowers, edgers,pumps, compressors, hydraulic rams, sprayers, generators, switches, lights, etc.) for the purpose ofidentifying equipment and/or systems repair and replacement needs.
• Performs routine and preventive maintenance for the purpose of ensuring the ongoing functioning ofrequired tools and equipment.
• Maintains tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safeoperating condition.
• Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providinginformation for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with health and safetyregulations.
• Assists other trades personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion oftheir work activities.
• Coordinates with administration and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work ordersefficiently.
• Prepares documentation (e.g. time and materials, job specifications, estimates materials, etc.) for thepurpose of providing written support in compliance with regulations and/or conveying information.
• Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability ofrequired items to complete the necessary installation/repair.
• Transports various items as needed and/or assigned (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose ofensuring the availability of materials required at job site.
