Job description

Description:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Janitorial Maintenance Repair Technician to oversee the upkeep, troubleshooting, and repair of our facility's cleaning fleet. The primary focus of this full-time role is the mechanical and electrical maintenance of commercial autoscrubbers, burnishers, buffers, and carpet extractors. You will ensure maximum equipment uptime, manage preventative maintenance schedules, and occasionally support high-level floor care execution to keep our facility safe and immaculate.

Key Responsibilities? Equipment Maintenance & Mechanical Repair

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on commercial walk-behind and ride-on autoscrubbers.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, including batteries (lead-acid and lithium-ion), smart chargers, wiring harnesses, switches, and electric drive/brush motors.
  • Fix fluid system faults, addressing clogs or leaks in solution tanks, recovery tanks, vacuum motors, squeegee assemblies, and water pumps.
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM), such as replacing squeegee blades, carbon brushes, gaskets, skirts, and floor pads/brushes.

Inventory & Asset Management

  • Track parts inventory, proactively ordering high-wear replacement parts (blades, hoses, filters, and fuses) to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Log maintenance history for all equipment, maintaining accurate digital or physical records of repairs, costs, and battery life cycles.
  • Manage chemical dilution systems built into the scrubbers, ensuring correct mixing ratios and calibrated delivery.

Advanced Floor Care Operations

  • Operate heavy floor machinery during specialized restoration projects, including stripping, waxing, buffing, and high-speed burnishing.
  • Train cleaning staff on proper daily equipment operation, pre-use inspections, and basic post-use maintenance (e.g., draining and rinsing recovery tanks).
  • Enforce safety compliance, ensuring all equipment operates safely, cords are unfrayed, and appropriate OSHA safety guidelines are followed.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience in small engine repair, appliance repair, golf cart maintenance, or industrial janitorial equipment servicing.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of DC electrical systems (12V, 24V, 36V), battery testing/watering, and basic hydraulic/pneumatic principles.
  • Equipment Mastery: Direct familiarity with major commercial brands (e.g., Tennant, Advance, Clarke, Viper, or Taski) is highly preferred.
  • Physical Requirements:  Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, parts, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods to service underside machine components.
  • Certifications: Technical school certifications or manufacturer-specific repair training is a major plus
