Mason's Hardware - Conroe Location
The Small Engine Mechanic is responsible for high quality and effective repair of equipment and ensures appropriate and detailed records for time, parts, supplies and repairs. This individual will perform repairs of small engines, primarily lawn and garden equipment (mowers, chain saws, handhelds, etc.). Independently performs complex diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance. Must be able to read illustrated parts and maintenance manuals and be safety conscious.
The ideal applicant has a minimum of one to three years' experience in small engine repair.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Reconditions and repairs small equipment and components correctly and efficiently.
  • Maintains complete and detailed working records for time, parts, supplies for repairs for invoicing.
  • Accurately capture all product information including serial number, model number and other required information for the proper filing of warranty claims.
  • Maintains and cares for shop tools and all company equipment.
  • Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Interacts with customers and co-workers on a daily basis.
  • Clean repaired units prior to moving them to the outbound area for delivery.
  • Look up parts via computer and retrieve parts from parts shelves when needed.
  • Mechanical/technical aptitude, safe work habits, a good working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions. Strong diagnosing capabilities, works with minimal supervision, customer service oriented, a problem solver, reliable, ethical, able to adapt to the people and environment around them.

Qualifications:
  • Has reliable transportation to and from shop location.
  • Owns and maintains personal tool inventory.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair 2 cycle and 4 cycle equipment.
  • Experience with repairing riding mowers, handhelds, generators, pressure washers, push mowers, etc.
  • Ability to use the computer for parts look up.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Walks, stands, bends and squats during the entire shift.
  • Ability to move and lift up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis.
  • Certifications or able to obtain certification: Husqvarna, Exmark, Stihl, Kohler, Briggs & Stratton and Kawasaki

Schedule:
  • Monday - Friday, 8 - 5 shift
  • Summer hours, alternating Saturdays

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Commission from labor
Compensation: $1.00 - $800.00 per week
