Job description

Step into an engaging and meaningful role working with children in a specialized program for students with moderate to profound language disorders. This contract opportunity, running from August 26th through June 8th, offers the chance to provide impactful services across closely-located school sites, just a short distance from New Haven, CT.

You will work with K-5th graders in self-contained classrooms, supporting students—including those with ASD and significant language delays—using a variety of strategies and communication devices. There's also the potential to provide services at a preschool (ages 3-5) one morning per week. The perfect fit for this role has experience or a strong interest in AAC tools such as Proloquo2Go, LAMP, or TouchChat, and is comfortable adapting to a dynamic school environment. Qualified applicants may also supervise Clinical Fellows or SLP Assistants.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or completion of a relevant assistant program
  • Valid state licensure as an SLP, CFY, or SLPA
  • Experience in school-based or pediatric settings highly preferred
  • Familiarity with AAC and alternative communication supports
  • Strong collaboration skills with teachers, families, and staff
  • Ability to support and supervise CFs or SLPAs

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage a moderate caseload of students, including IEP planning, conducting assessments/evaluations, and delivering direct therapy
  • Complete progress notes, Medicaid billing, and participate in IEP meetings
  • Adapt and implement a wide variety of AAC tools and language intervention strategies
  • Work across one or two nearby school sites and, if applicable, a preschool program
