Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Contract Position: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Contract Term: 2026–2027 School Year (dates to be specified in agreement) Compensation: Contract rate based on services rendered (to be negotiated)

Position Overview:

The contracted Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide speech-language evaluation, therapy, and consultative services to students across assigned school sites. Services will be delivered in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local guidelines, as well as district expectations outlined in the service agreement.

Scope of Services:

  • Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings as requested
  • Perform evaluations using standardized assessment tools
  • Develop and implement therapy plans for eligible students
  • Provide individual and/or group therapy services
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to IEP development and implementation
  • Maintain accurate and timely service logs, progress notes, and required documentation
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents regarding student progress and strategies
  • Provide consultative support to instructional staff
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable special education laws and regulations
  • Submit all required reports within designated timelines

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution
  • Valid Alabama licensure and certification through the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE)
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred
  • Demonstrated experience working in a school-based setting
  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned caseload

Contract Terms:

  • Contractor is not considered an employee of the district and is not eligible for employee benefits
  • Contractor is responsible for all applicable taxes, licensure, and insurance (including professional liability insurance)
  • Schedule, service delivery model, and assigned locations will be outlined in the contract agreement
  • Payment will be processed per agreed-upon rate and invoicing schedule
  • Contractor must comply with background clearance requirements and all applicable state laws, including the Alabama Child Protection Act
