What are 'Slow Blow' fuses and what are they used for?

Slow blow fuses, also known as time-delay fuses, are electrical safety devices designed to tolerate temporary current surges without blowing immediately. They are commonly used in circuits with components like motors or transformers that experience short inrush currents at startup. This feature prevents nuisance fuse replacements while still protecting against sustained overloads or short circuits. Slow blow fuses are essential in applications where equipment needs a brief high current to function properly.
