Job description
C-P Flexible Packaging is a successful and fast-growing essential manufacturing company that uses an impressive array of digital pre-press and wide-web flexographic printing capabilities and extrusion and adhesive laminators to produce creative flexible packaging solutions for our customers. With a primary focus on serving the food industry, C-P specializes in roll stock, pouches, re-sealable packaging and shrink sleeves.
The Aurora plant is currently a 24/5 operation with 8 hours shifts, rotating every two weeks. Days (7a-3p), Afternoons (3p-11p), Midnights (11p-7a), offering both afternoon and midnight shift premiums. Selected candidates must be able to work shift work.
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Slitter Operator at our plant in AURORA to play a key role in producing high-quality products that meet our customers' specifications. We are looking for a safety-focused, detail-orientated individual with strong mechanical aptitude who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Position Summary
The Slitter Operator is responsible for setting up and operating slitting machines to convert materials into finished rolls according to customer and production specifications. This role requires attention to detail, strong measurement skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with team members to meet quality and production targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate slitting equipment according to work orders and docket instructions
- Configure blade widths and tension settings to meet product specifications
- Load materials correctly and ensure proper machine operation throughout production runs
- Wind finished material onto cores according to required unwind direction, slit width, and impressions per roll
- Remove waste from mill rolls and perform splices in accordance with customer requirements
- Inspect finished products and ensure defect-free material is prepared for customer delivery
- Provide guidance and direction to the Slitter Helper to support efficient machine operation
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Meet production objectives while adapting to changing priorities and schedules
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong math and measurement skills
- Good organizational and time-management abilities
- Basic mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and interpret production instructions and work orders
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
- Flexibility to adapt to changing production demands
Physical Requirements
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling
- Frequent bending and continuous back movement
- Extended periods of standing and walking
- Occasional holding of materials weighing up to approximately 10-15 lbs
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing environment with concrete floors
- Exposure to production noise; appropriate PPE is required
- Hot and humid indoor conditions during summer months

This position reports directly to the Slitting Supervisor
