To thrive as a Slitter, you need mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and experience or training with industrial machinery, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with slitting machines, measurement tools, and safety protocols is important, and some roles may require forklift certification or knowledge of ERP systems. Adhering to safety guidelines and participating in ongoing training can also help Slitters stay efficient and minimize errors during their shifts.

What are slitters?

Slitters are machine operators who specialize in cutting large rolls of material—such as paper, plastic, metal, or fabric—into narrower rolls or strips according to precise specifications. They set up, operate, and maintain slitting machines, ensuring materials are cut accurately and efficiently. Slitters also inspect finished products for quality, troubleshoot equipment issues, and may perform basic maintenance. This role is commonly found in manufacturing industries where materials are processed and packaged for further use.
