What You'll Do

As a Sleep Technologist, you will play a critical role in helping physicians diagnose and treat sleep disorders while delivering exceptional patient care throughout the testing process.

Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care & Assessment
  • Review patient histories and sleep-related concerns.
  • Explain testing procedures and answer patient questions.
  • Ensure patient comfort before, during, and after testing.
  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered care throughout the study.
Sleep Study Preparation
  • Prepare, calibrate, and troubleshoot sleep diagnostic equipment.
  • Apply electrodes and sensors according to established industry standards.
  • Verify proper operation of recording and monitoring systems.
  • Perform physiologic calibrations to ensure accurate data collection.
Sleep Study Monitoring & Data Collection
  • Conduct overnight polysomnographic studies.
  • Monitor patients throughout testing while maintaining signal quality.
  • Identify and document sleep-related events.
  • Perform PAP mask fittings and pressure adjustments as appropriate.
  • Follow laboratory protocols and physician orders.
Analysis & Documentation
  • Analyze and score sleep study data.
  • Document patient observations and clinical events accurately.
  • Maintain complete and compliant patient records.
  • Communicate significant findings appropriately to clinical leadership.
  • Recommend study improvements and procedural adjustments when needed.

QualificationsRequired
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited Polysomnography Program
  • Current RPSGT credential or eligibility as required by New York regulations
  • Current BLS/CPR Certification
  • Proof of required immunizations and health clearances
  • Strong communication and patient care skills
  • Working knowledge of sleep diagnostic equipment and testing procedures
Preferred
  • New York PSG License
  • CRT or RRT credential
  • Experience with overnight sleep studies and PAP titrations
  • Knowledge of AASM standards and sleep laboratory best practices
  • Experience scoring sleep studies
