Foundry Production Tech - Ashland, OH

We have an opportunity for aFoundry Production Techjoin theAshland, OHteam. You will perform a series of operations and duties throughout the Foundry from melting and pouring the liquid metal, swinging of a sledgehammer for knockouts, to removing the finished casting and grinding and polishing.

You will:

  • You will be helping with the process of producing castings for our pumps in our foundry, and the duties you could be performing are listed below.
  • Running machines and using power hand tools such as grinders
  • Using a sledgehammer on a frequent basis to do knockouts from the molds
  • Perform and assist a series of operations or duties to make iron and prepare it for the production lines, charges back furnaces by using overhead crane, pours molten iron samples for chemistry and temperatures.
  • Measures, weighs and adds minerals and additives to the furnace and ladles as required by the iron control and laboratory technician.
  • Removes slag from the furnaces and taps the iron from the furnaces and maintain and repair spouts on both ladles and furnaces as needed.
  • Brings supplies and additives to the deck and removes slag hoppers from deck with hoist and forklift. Worker will be required to center the ladle over the furnaces and is responsible for the distribution of the right grade of iron and quantity to the molding lines.
  • Move weights from one mold to the next (once the sprue is grey) at No-Bake line. Transfer molds from closing line to pouring conveyors and from pouring conveyers to cooling conveyers.
  • Working in a team based lean manufacturing environment where safety is our number one priority

Key Qualifications:

  • Overhead crane or hoist - charging furnaces, moving ladles, and transporting materials.
  • Mechanical aptitude - comfort using grinders, power tools, and basic mechanical equipment.
  • Machine operation experience, preferred - running production machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to work in extreme conditions - heat, noise, dust, and fastpaced production.
  • Physical requirements: Heavy manual labor ability - standing, walking, twisting at the waist, lifting, swinging sledgehammer, and lowering weights up to 50lbs.

Position hours/shift (Overtime Available!):

  • 1st shift: 5:30 am - 4:00 pm,Monday through Thursday
  • 3rd shift: 7:00 pm - 5:30 am, Monday through Thursday
  • All training will take place during first shift
  • Overtime on Fridays when available
  • You must be able to work both shifts

Compensation:

The hourly pay for this role is: $22.36/hr.
