About The Job :
The Universal/Multi-skilled Operator is responsible for safely and proficiently operating a variety of large, heavy machinery such as Dozers, Cranes, Excavators, and Motor Graders. This versatile role requires expertise in handling various equipment types, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
What You'll Do :
1. Equipment Operation
  • Operate a range of heavy machinery, including but not limited to excavators, bulldozers, motor graders, etc. depending on project requirements.
  • Ensure the safe operation of the equipment and perform routine equipment maintenance checks.

2. Material Handling
  • Follow instructions provided by supervisors or production plans to meet desired operational goals.
  • Handle materials with care to prevent spills, waste, or damage to equipment and surrounding infrastructure.

3. Safety and Compliance
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings, equipment, and personnel to prevent accidents or hazards.
  • Report any safety concerns, incidents, or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor promptly.

4. Project Support
  • Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and other team members to execute tasks according to project specifications.
  • Ensure the efficient use of equipment to meet project timelines.

5. Problem Solving
  • Identify and address issues or challenges during equipment operation, troubleshooting as needed.

6. Communication
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.

7. Equipment Inspection and Maintenance
  • Perform thorough pre and post operation checks of the dragline to identify safety or mechanical defects.
  • Report any maintenance needs or equipment issues to the maintenance department.

8. Documentation
  • Maintain accurate records of materials loaded and unloaded.
  • Complete log sheets, work orders, and other documentation as required.

9. May direct and train others to operate and maintain equipment as required.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills You'll Need :
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Trade school diploma or certificate in equipment operation is highly desired.
Experience: Previous experience operating large dozers, cranes, excavators and motor graders is required.
Certifications/Licenses: A valid driver's license is required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • A strong commitment to safety protocols and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
    • Familiarity with equipment controls and operation techniques.
    • Adapt to various equipment and project types, demonstrating versatility in handling different tasks and machinery.
    • Good communication skills to effectively interact and coordinate with team members and supervisors.
    • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and adapt to changing work environments.
    • Strong sense of spatial awareness to maneuver equipment in tight spaces, around obstacles, and in congested work areas.

Other Requirements:
    • Must be willing to work overtime and travel to different operations depending on company demands.
    • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
    • Physical ability to operate heavy machinery for extended periods.
