Position Summary
The Rental Supervisor is responsible for leading daily rental operations by delivering exceptional guest service, overseeing the rental floor, and serving as the primary resource for resolving guest and employee issues when the manager is unavailable. This position drives teamwork through effective communication, coaching, and ongoing staff training while ensuring efficient workflow and high performance.
The Supervisor maintains advanced knowledge of ski, snowboard, and bike equipment and ensures all equipment is properly fitted, maintained, and compliant with ASTM standards and manufacturer specifications. They promote a strong safety culture by enforcing safe work practices, proper PPE use, running safety huddles, and compliance with all operating procedures.
Additional responsibilities include assigning daily workstations, monitoring quality and labor, and overseeing opening and closing procedures. The role also supports tune shop and ski valet operations, manages cash banks and inventory, and assists with hiring, scheduling, payroll, certifications, operating supply orders, and employee development to ensure a safe, professional, and guest-focused operation. The Rental Supervisor must be able to open and close any of our rental locations on any given shift.
Essential Duties & Major Responsibilities
  • Lead daily rental operations by providing exceptional guest service and serving as the primary point of contact for guest and employee concerns.
  • Assign daily workstations, monitor workflow and labor, and provide direction and feedback to ensure efficient operations.
  • Conduct weekly guest service and safety huddles, communicate mountain operations updates, and promote a positive team environment.
  • Train, coach, and develop staff on guest service standards, POS systems, rental procedures, equipment knowledge, equipment tuning, and operational expectations.
  • Maintain working knowledge of ski, snowboard, and mountain bike equipment, including proper fitting, handling, and safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with ASTM standards, Release and Indemnity Agreement procedures, rental equipment tracking, PPE requirements, and all safety policies.
  • Lead weekly safety meetings, maintain required safety documentation, and support a culture of safe work practices.
  • Create employee schedules, monitor labor, process timekeeping corrections, and approve payroll.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, employee development, and separation decisions.
  • Oversee special rental programs including SORI4, OAS, multi-week, school, valet, and overnight storage programs.
  • Manage daily POS operations, monitor sales reports, discounts, refunds, and ensure accurate cash handling procedures.
  • Coordinate with other resort departments to ensure effective communication and a seamless guest experience.
  • Support equipment movement between rental locations, assist with ski rack setup and teardown, and support Tune Shop operations as needed.
  • Ensure employees receive required meal and rest breaks in accordance with company policy.
  • Maintain flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and seasonal operating hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Scope
The primary focus of the supervisor is to run daily operations and assist the manager in department growth and development.
Secondary Function
Assist and direct with ski rack duties and snow removal projects around the resort as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Number of employees supervised: 13-50
  • Positions Supervised: Rentals Staff & Repair Staff
  • Scheduling and assigning work: Staff on a seasonal and daily basis.
  • Training: Assist in the implementation of training both at the beginning of the season and continuing.
  • Disciplinary actions: Initial contact with staff as necessary and communication with the manager on the situation.
  • Performance review: Assist the manager in the completion of mid-season and end-of-season reviews for all rental staff.
  • Hiring/Termination: Assist the manager as needed.

Interpersonal Contacts
Supervisors communicate with guests, staff, staff/supervisors/managers from other departments, and their manager daily. Other departments such as Gravity School, Receiving, Marketing, Group Sales, Tickets, Risk Management, Building Maintenance, Mt. Ambassadors, Retail and Demos need to be communicated with as situations dictate.
Specific Job Skills
  • License/Certification: Binding Certifications
  • Technical: Computer skills and knowledge of RTP resort software are a plus.
  • Physical Capabilities: Able to Ski/Ride at an intermediate level.
  • Additional: High level of interpersonal relationship skills, administrative skills, great ability to multitask, be extremely detail oriented, possess the ability to motivate crew, plan and execute teambuilding events, and keep employee morale high throughout the season.

Education/Related Experience
  • Minimum Education: High School or Equivalent Required
  • Minimum time in related position: 2 years in a leadership position
