Job description

Job Title: Seasonal Guest Services - Part-Time / Non-Exempt
Location: Maggie Daley Park, Chicago, IL
Reports To: Facility Manager
Position Summary
Maggie Daley Park is seeking enthusiastic, guest-focused individuals to join our Seasonal Guest Services Staff for the winter ice-skating season. In this role, you'll help create a fun, safe, and memorable experience for all visitors to the Ice-Skating Ribbon. Working under the direction of the Guest Services Leader, you'll assist off-ice operations, support special events, and ensure excellent service is delivered throughout the guest experience. Maggie Daley Park is open 7 days a week in all types of weather. Rain, Snow and Sunshine. All Applicants need to be extremely reliable, dedicated and punctual. References will be checked.
Key Responsibilities
  • Greet guests warmly and provide friendly, professional assistance.
  • Share information about rink rules, skate rentals, park programs, and events.
  • Encourage safe behavior and enforce rink policies.
  • Report any incidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to supervisors immediately.
  • Fit, distribute, and collect rental skates and helmets.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the rental area and equipment.
  • Sanitize skates and gear as needed between uses.
  • Help keep warming tents, locker areas, and common spaces clean and inviting.
  • Manage lines, direct guest traffic, and promote efficient flow throughout the facility.
  • Assist with group activities, themed skate nights, and other park programming.
  • Contribute to a festive and inclusive atmosphere during special events.
  • Complete other job responsibility and duties as assigned.

Schedule Requirements
  • Starting October 1st through April 1st; this is a seasonal, part-time position
  • Maggie Daley Park is open 7 days a week 8am-10pm. ALL Holidays
  • Applicants must be available to work early mornings, weekdays, evenings and Weekends
  • Ability to work the following Shift(s): 7:00AM-1:30PM, 10:00AM-4:30PM, 4:00PM-10:30PM

Qualifications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Expert knowledge in all types of sizing for hockey and figure skates, familiar with European Sizes. Ability to swap out sizes quickly without assistance
  • Expert Ability to tie and lace skates quickly
  • Expert Ability to use technology to check in participants
  • Expert Ability to clearly and quickly explain to patrons the online reservation process
  • Expert Ability to multi-task and maintain a friendly tone during chaotic busy times
  • Previous experience in customer service, recreation, or events is preferred
  • Commitment to delivering an inclusive and welcoming experience for all guests
  • Ability to work in the cold and warm weather conditions
  • AED/CPR Certified
  • Reliable Transportation, in all types of weather.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequent walking and standing; occasional sitting for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds regularly
  • May be required to physically assist guests in the event of a fall or emergency
