Summary of Job The skate shop employees shall be responsible for the daily operation of the Skate Shop. Position is 10 - 15 hours per week; evenings and weekends 4 positions open Tasks Routinely Performed THE SKATE SHOP EMPLOYEE MUST: Responsible for serving patrons in a cheerful and professional manner. Preform transactions for admission and skate rentals.
Knowledge of appropriately fitting skates. Store skates in an appropriate manner. Hand out helmets and skate aids as requested.
Clean the Skate Shop and arena at the end of your shift. Check rental skates for blade quality and check/replace all skate laces and skate insoles as needed. Inventory First Aid Cabinet daily to make sure it is fully stocked/supplied.
Keep all merchandise stocked and report any low count to your immediate supervisor. Manage skates to be sharpened in the appropriate manner. Answer the Skate Shop telephone.
Follow accident procedures as stated in the K.B. Willett employee manual. Be responsible for opening and closing out of the Skate Shop cash register
Conduct work in a safe manner and adhere to all safety policies. Responsible to stay in the Skate Shop area when the Skate Shop is open. Qualifications Must have and be able to demonstrate good public relation skills.
Must be able to get along and work with fellow employees. Must have the ability to communicate effectively. Must be able to work in cold, damp, hot, or loud conditions.
Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required. Must be able to bend, twist, and squat occasionally for 6-8 hours per day and be able to lift 50-100 pounds. Ability to read/write and follow verbal and written directions.
Must be able to continuously walk or stand for 4-8 hours. Must have proficient knowledge of sharpening of both Hockey and Figure Skates, or be willing to learn. Must be able to operate the point of sale software and cash drawer.
Must be proficient in mathematics. Must have the ability to work unsupervised. NOTE: This position description should not be interpreted as all inclusive.
