Job description

Summary: The Ice Skating Instructor will teach a variety of skating lessons in a positive, safe, educational, and fun environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Instruct skating lessons in accordance with the District skating curriculum and guidelines.
  • Teach skills essential to the development and growth of the skaters abilities and progress.
  • Attend all informational staff meetings.
  • Assist with Ice Show, competitions, and exhibitions, as well as special events held at Centennial Ice Arena.
  • Maintain records as required (i.e., attendance, progress reports, etc.).
  • Follow all Park District policies and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
  • Possess knowledge of skating maneuvers.
  • Understand skill levels and teach in a progressive and safe manner.
  • Respond appropriately and in a timely manner to participant and facility emergencies, including completion of accident/incident or minor injury log.
  • Performs other Park District-related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience:Must be at least 16 years old with some high school experience or up to one month of related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
American Red Cross CPR/AED
Safe Sport Certified
US Figure Skating Member in good standing
Learn to Skate USAโ„ข Instructor Certification
Wage Range: $16.00-$30.00 per hour depending on qualifications
Classification: Part-time, non-exempt
Schedule: Depending upon instruction and class schedule
