Familiarity with navigation systems, communication equipment, and shipboard safety procedures is essential. Attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are critical soft skills for this role. These skills ensure safe and effective ship operations, quick response to emergencies, and efficient coordination with crew members.

What are Six Watch?

A Six Watch refers to a shift or duty schedule commonly used aboard ships, especially in naval or maritime settings. In the 'six watch' system, the crew is divided into six groups, each standing watch for four hours, followed by eight hours off. This rotation ensures the ship is manned and operational around the clock while balancing rest periods for the crew. The system is designed to increase efficiency and reduce fatigue compared to traditional watch schedules. It is particularly common in military navies and some merchant vessels.
