Job description

Job Title: Construction Site Superintendent

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Classification: Exempt


Job Summary: The Construction Site Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all phases of construction projects from start to finish, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards and contract documents. The Superintendent serves as the primary on-site representative of the company, managing field operations, coordinating subcontractors, enforcing safety protocols, and maintaining communication with clients, inspectors, and project management.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that the jobsite is a safe environment for clients, sub-contractors, staff and vendors by maintaining and upholding safety and quality standards set forth by company and contract documents.
  • Manage and drive project schedule for sub-contractors and vendors to complete project requirements and continue to push the project requirements and continue to push the project schedule forward.
  • Navigate through work-site conflicts and utilize problem solving skills to keep work on track.
  • Accurate completion of project according to contract documents while upholding company quality standards and meeting client expectations.
  • Communicate and consult Project Management Team with any delays or issues that arise impacting the project.
  • Utilization of company tools and resources for project management communication and documentation.
  • Completion of daily logs, weekly site walk-through and safety reports to identify areas where corrective action is required. Ensure timely completion is taken to resolve issues.
  • Manage and care for company vehicles and equipment being used on project sites to ensure safety requirements and regularly scheduled maintenance are being followed and completed.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in construction management or related field preferred.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of progressive construction experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Certifications:

  • OSHA 30-hour Certification preferred; First Aid/CPR certification a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of construction documents and specifications.
  • Proficiency with construction management software (e/g/. Procore, PlanGrid, Sage Intacct, BlueBleam or Construction Manager) and MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand, walk, and climb ladders or scaffolding for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work is performed primarily on construction sites, subject to weather and environmental conditions.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed on active construction sites in varying weather conditions.
  • May require extended hours, weekends, and travel depending on project needs.

Work Schedule:

Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, or rotation of 2 weeks on, 4 days off, depending on project location with additional hours as required to meet project deadlines. Evening or weekend work may be necessary.
