What does it mean when a site is down?

When a site is down, it means that a website is unavailable or not functioning properly for users. This could be due to server issues, maintenance, network problems, or software errors. As a result, visitors may see error messages, slow loading times, or may not be able to access the site at all. Resolving the issue typically involves technical troubleshooting by website administrators or IT professionals.

What are some common challenges faced by Site Reliability Engineers when responding to site downtime incidents?

Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) often face challenges such as quickly identifying the root cause of outages, coordinating with multiple teams under pressure, and communicating status updates clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. They must balance the urgency of restoring service with the need to avoid introducing new issues during troubleshooting. Effective incident response also involves thorough post-mortem analysis and implementing preventive measures to reduce future downtime.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Site Down Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Site Reliability Engineer (commonly responsible during site downtime), you need strong skills in systems administration, networking, troubleshooting, and a background in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with tools like monitoring platforms (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana), incident management systems, and cloud infrastructure certifications (such as AWS Certified SysOps Administrator) is typical. Excellent problem-solving abilities, composure under pressure, and effective communication are critical soft skills for this role. These competencies enable rapid identification and resolution of site outages, ensuring minimal disruption and maintaining user trust.

Job description

Supervisor
Location: 9506 Taylorsville Rd. Louisville, KY 40299
Reports to: Site Manager
Pay: $16–$18/hr + commission
Are you a motivated, hands-on leader who enjoys customer service, team leadership, sales, operations, and working in a fast-paced environment? SpeedWash Car Wash is hiring a Supervisor who is ready to grow into a key leadership role within a high-volume, multimillion-dollar car wash operation. In this role, you will help lead daily operations, coach and support team members, deliver an excellent customer experience, maintain clean and professional facilities, promote SpeedPass membership sales, solve problems quickly, and help keep the site running safely, efficiently, and successfully. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in retail, restaurants, hospitality, customer service, sales, shift leadership, team management, or operations who wants to build a long-term career with a growing company. If you are dependable, energetic, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and ready to take ownership, develop people, hit goals, and grow as a leader, this position could be the right fit for you.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your mission is to grow SpeedPass memberships by creating an amazing experience every time a customer visits.
You will:
  • Own site cleanliness: inside, outside, equipment, vacuum, lot – everything should scream “SpeedWash Clean.”
  • Lead and train the team to confidently talk about our wash packages, features, and benefits, and turn guests into loyal SpeedPass members.
  • Be the on-site expert on daily operations: opening/closing, staffing, chemical levels, preventative maintenance, wash quality, and customer flow.
  • Keep everyone safe by following and enforcing all safety procedures and holding the team accountable.
  • Solve problems early – spotting small issues with equipment before they become big problems that could shut the site down.
  • Support the Site Manager with day-to-day decisions, coaching team members, and stepping up whenever leadership is needed.

What We’re Looking For
We’re not just hiring a body for a shift – we’re investing in our next site leader.
You’re a great fit if you:
  • Are confident and comfortable overseeing a busy, fast-paced site.
  • Take pride in how your workplace looks and operates.
  • Are coachable, eager to learn, and open to feedback.
  • Enjoy training and motivating others to sell and serve customers better.
  • Have strong problem-solving skills – you notice issues early and take action.
  • Can communicate clearly in English with customers and team members.
    • Spanish fluency is a big plus – many of our guests and team members appreciate bilingual leaders.
  • Understand that safety comes first – for people, cars, and equipment.
  • Are willing to go the extra mile – staying a little late, jumping in to help, and doing what it takes to keep standards high.

What We Offer
  • $16–$18 per hour plus commission.
  • Bi-Weekly Pay - get rewarded for your hard work fast.
  • Access to MEC health coverage - plus dental and vision plan options.
  • Paid Time Off - we believe rest fuels greatness.
  • Regular Performance Reviews - clear feedback, real growth, and open conversations.
  • 2 Free Car Washes per week - keep your ride looking as fresh as your future.
  • Regular Team Building Events - we work hard and celebrate harder, culture comes first.
  • 5 Free Uniforms - we cover the gear so you can focus on getting the job done and looking good doing it!

Minimum Requirements
  • Previous experience in customer service, retail, restaurant, or other fast-paced environments is helpful (leadership experience is a plus).
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends and evenings.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and on your feet.
  • Reliable transportation and strong attendance.

Ready to Lead at SpeedWash?
If you’re ready to grow, lead a team, and help run a high-volume, multimillion-dollar SpeedWash Car Wash, we want to talk to you.
