How much do sintering jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 11, 2026, the average hourly pay for sintering in the United States is $19.24, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $16.83 and $21.15 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in sintering operations, and how can they be addressed?

One common challenge in sintering operations is maintaining consistent product quality due to variations in raw material properties or process conditions. To address this, professionals often use precise monitoring systems and adjust parameters such as temperature and dwell time in real time. Another challenge is equipment maintenance, as sintering furnaces operate at high temperatures and require regular inspection and servicing to minimize downtime. Effective communication with quality control and engineering teams is also vital to promptly resolve production issues and optimize process efficiency.

What is sintering?

Sintering is a manufacturing process used to create solid materials by heating powdered raw materials below their melting point until the particles bond together. This technique is commonly used in metallurgy, ceramics, and the production of certain plastics. The process enhances the strength and structural integrity of the final product, making it useful for producing components with complex shapes and specific material properties. Sintering is essential in industries such as automotive, aerospace, and electronics for making parts like gears, filters, and electronic components.

What jobs pay 2000 a day?

High-paying jobs that can reach $2,000 a day often include specialized roles such as senior surgeons, anesthesiologists, corporate lawyers, or experienced consultants. These positions typically require advanced education, certifications, and significant experience, and may involve high-stakes environments or freelance consulting with premium clients.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Sintering Technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Sintering Technician, you need a solid understanding of materials science, mechanical aptitude, and experience with industrial manufacturing processes, often supported by a technical diploma or associate degree. Familiarity with sintering furnaces, temperature control systems, and quality inspection tools is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and effective teamwork are essential soft skills for this role. These abilities ensure the production of high-quality parts, minimize defects, and maintain efficient and safe operations in a manufacturing environment.

What does sintering do?

Sintering is a process used in jobs related to materials engineering where powdered materials are heated below their melting point to bond particles together, creating a solid mass. It improves the strength, density, and structural integrity of the material, often used in manufacturing ceramics, metals, and composites. Skills in temperature control and understanding material properties are important for sintering roles.

What is a sintering agent?

A sintering agent is a substance added to powdered materials to promote bonding and densification during the sintering process. It helps lower the temperature required for sintering and improves the mechanical properties of the final product. Sintering technicians often select appropriate agents based on material type and desired properties, using tools like microscopes and testing equipment to ensure quality.

What is a sinter operator?

A sinter operator is responsible for overseeing the sintering process in manufacturing, which involves heating powdered materials to create solid mass. They monitor equipment, control temperature and airflow, and ensure quality standards are met, often working with tools like thermocouples and control systems in a production environment.

What is the difference between Sintering vs Machinist?

AspectSinteringMachinist
Required CredentialsTechnical training, certifications in powder metallurgy or materials scienceTechnical training, certifications in machining or manufacturing
Work EnvironmentManufacturing plants, working with powders and pressesMachine shops, workshops, manufacturing floors
Industry UsageMetal parts production, aerospace, automotiveMetal fabrication, tool and die, manufacturing

Both Sintering and Machinist roles are integral to manufacturing industries, often overlapping in metal production. Sintering involves shaping powdered materials through heat, while Machinists operate machines to cut and shape metal parts. Understanding their differences helps in choosing the right career path or job role within manufacturing sectors.
