Job description

SUMMARY:

The Associate Worship Minister exists to help Storyline proclaim the good news of the gospel by serving alongside the Director of Worship in cultivating gatherings that are theologically serious, aesthetically excellent, and congregationally formative. This role helps lead worship across the life of the church, develops future worship leaders, contributes creatively through songwriting and musical arrangement, and strengthens a culture of worship that forms disciples and serves the mission of Storyline Church.

VISION & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Sunday Gathering

The Sunday Gathering is one of the primary ways Storyline rehearses the good news of the gospel together. The Associate Worship Minister partners with the Director of Worship to help create worship gatherings where Scripture, song, prayer, and liturgy encourage the church to know Jesus and love all people.

  • Assist in planning and leading weekly worship gatherings.
  • Lead worship regularly, helping cultivate joyful congregational participation.
  • Provide leadership, care, and development for the Storyline Worship Choir.
  • Support rehearsals, musical preparation, and worship planning.
  • Help maintain a culture of excellence that serves the congregation rather than performance.

Partner with Storyline Ministries

Worship at Storyline extends beyond Sunday mornings. Every ministry environment is an opportunity to form disciples through gospel-centered worship.

  • Partner with ministry leaders to lead worship within The Salt Company, Students, Kids, and other ministry environments.
  • Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteers serving in these ministries.
  • Cultivate a consistent worship culture across the life of Storyline Church.
  • Encourage and equip emerging worship leaders to serve in a variety of ministry contexts.

Develop Future Leaders

Healthy worship ministries multiply leaders. The Associate Worship Minister plays an important role in identifying, investing in, and developing musicians and worship leaders who will faithfully serve the local church.

  • Disciple developing worship leaders through coaching, encouragement, and ministry opportunities.
  • Invest in volunteers by helping them grow spiritually, musically, and as servant leaders.
  • Support the Worship Residency by mentoring residents and modeling faithful ministry.
  • Help prepare future worship leaders to serve Storyline, church plants, and the broader Church.

Songs for the Church

Storyline desires to write songs that grow out of the life of our church and help our people sing the truths of the gospel. The Associate Worship Minister contributes creatively by helping develop music that serves the local church and future generations.

  • Write and develop original songs rooted in Scripture and the life of Storyline Church.
  • Create musical arrangements that strengthen congregational singing.
  • Help oversee the creative process for recordings and worship resources.
  • Contribute to a growing catalog of music that serves Storyline and the broader Church.

    RELATIONSHIP WITH THE STORYLINE TEAM:

    • I report to: Director of Worship, other ministry Directors
    • I work with: Worship team and Storyline staff
    • I lead: Worship Volunteers

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A daily pursuit of Christian Maturity
    • Agree with & live in alignment with Storyline Mission, Values, and Statement of Faith
    • 2+ years of experience in worship ministry preferred
    • Strong vocal and instrumental proficiency with the ability to lead confidently from the platform
    • Demonstrated gifting in arranging music and cultivating engaging congregational worship
    • Ability to coach and equip musicians and technical artists
    • Proficiency in Planning Center, ProPresenter, Google Suite
    • Ability to create a positive and intentional leadership culture
