Job description

Department Overview

This position provides strategic and operational leadership for the statewide simulation program within the Oregon Perinatal Collaborative. This includes onsite facilitation of simulations and debriefs on perinatal units and emergency departments in Oregon hospitals and with emergency medical services, as well as provision of clinical subject matter expertise support to these teams. This position will interact with multidisciplinary teams across Oregon and will work closely with the provider experts supporting this statewide program as well as OPC leadership in the design, implementation and evaluation of the statewide simulation program. This position requires clinical expertise, simulation experience and comfort with data used to evaluate the program. Strong interpersonal skills are also necessary for success in this role.

Function/Duties of Position
  • Leading simulation and debriefs with multidisciplinary teams in all Oregon birthing units (includes travel).
  • Program development, including developing drafting/ editing policies and procedures for program and development of a "simulation playbook" for use by teams across Oregon.
  • Train unit nurse educators to facilitate their own simulations and serve as a clinical resource between training/ simulation related to simulation/ simulation topics.
  • Participate in budget development and maintenance for simulation.
  • Maintain simulation equipment, working with vendors as needed for repair/ replacement.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • 8 years of experience in either high risk OB, neonatal, or rural OB nursing

  • Healthcare education and/or quality improvement

  •  Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Suite Applications

  • OB and/or newborn simulation with high and low fidelity manikins
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Nursing (MN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
  • 10 years of experience in high risk OB, neonatal, or rural OB nursing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of instructional technologies, telecommunications, and other information technologies that apply to instruction and distributed learning
  • Experience in simulation facilitation, pedagogy, learning theories (including simulation learning theories) and adult learning
  • CHSE certification
