DNP, PhD, or Doctoral Degree in nursing or a related field is required.
Required Related Experience
Minimum of two years of full-time or equivalent experience employed as a BSN-prepared nurse in the last 5 years is required. At least one year of simulation or skills lab teaching experience, or a combination of education and professional experience relevant to the role.
Required License/Registration/Certification
An active unencumbered Kentucky license as a registered nurse is required. Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) credential or willingness to obtain certification within two years of hire.
Job Summary
The University of Kentucky, College of Nursing is seeking an Assistant Professor, Clinical Title Series (non-tenure track) position. This position is a 12-month appointment with an administrative appointment serving as the Assistant Dean of Clinical Simulation and Learning Center. This position, based in Lexington, KY, will serve as the Assistant Dean of Clinical Simulation and Learning Center for the College of Nursing. This position provides strategic and operational leadership for simulation-based education across all College of Nursing locations.
This role oversees the design, implementation, and evaluation of human and non-human simulation, standardized patient, and mixed/virtual reality learning experiences to ensure alignment with program outcomes, accreditation standards, and institutional priorities. The Assistant Dean collaborates closely with Associate Deans, faculty, and content experts to integrate simulation across undergraduate and graduate curricula while promoting innovation, consistency, and quality across sites.

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in nursing or a related field and maintain an active, unencumbered Kentucky RN license. A minimum of two (2) years of full-time or equivalent experience employed as a BSN-prepared nurse in the last five (5) years is required. The Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) credential is required or must be obtained within two years of hire.

Qualified candidates will demonstrate experience in simulation or skills lab teaching (at least one year required; three years preferred) and expertise in simulation-based education, curriculum development, and technology-enhanced instruction. Knowledge of human and non-human simulation modalities, standardized patient programs, and emerging simulation technologies is essential.
