Job description

The Digital Content Coordinator is part of the Office of Public Relations & Communications team is responsible for planning, creating and managing dynamic digital content across various platforms, including social media, email newsletters, web and other channels to enhance storytelling and brand visibility and engagement for Lipscomb as well as analyzing performance metrics to optimize communication strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation: Develop, write and edit content for social media, blogs, e-newsletters and select webpages, maintaining a consistent brand voice.
  • Social Media Management: Manage day-to-day operations of the university’s main social media channels (e.g., LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook), create organic content, create graphics and engage with users. In addition, serves as the point of contact for all social media users managing various social media channels in their departments or colleges as well as helps make sure the university’s Media, Electronic and Social Media Policy is followed across campus. 
  • Web Content:Manage and maintain content for the university events page, assist with generating content for and posting content to the news hub, maintaining and updating the PR webpage among a few select others.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Track engagement, monitor performance metrics and create reports to improve future strategies for organic social media efforts. Also assists with reporting on traditional media engagement and campaigns.
  • Multimedia Development:Produce lo-fi visual content, including basic video editing for reels and other organic social media video content, that can be created with a phone using video editing tools such as Canva.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies and tactics for the main university social media channels that grow followers, engage and retain followers; elevate and create awareness of the brand; highlight subject matter expertise of our faculty and staff, and cultivate active fans and promoters of the institution. These strategies and tactics should be aligned with the university’s strategic objectives and these organic efforts should be in close collaboration with the University Marketing team to support paid digital campaigns and align digital content with strategic goals.

The Digital Content Communications Coordinator should have:

  • Knowledge and awareness of best practices and trends in social media marketing,
  • The ability to write engaging copy,
  • Experience creating content for X, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and TikTok among other platforms,
  • Experience creating content such as reels and other simple video content for socials using a phone to create this content,
  • Experience developing organic content strategies for social media platforms to grow followers and engagement,
  • Experience using email marketing platforms such as myEmma and content management systems such as Drupal, and
  • The ability to provide reporting on key social media metrics and to make data-driven decisions as well as to provide reporting on other metrics such as media coverage and reach.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree

Experience:

  • 2-3 years

  • Active and well-rounded personal presence in social media, with a command of each channel (including but not limited to: X, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn) and their best practices.
  • Excellent communicator and creative thinker, with an ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions.

  • Experience with creating social media video content is required.
