As an employer of choice we offer physical, emotional, financial and professional benefits including 401K, disability insurance and paid holidays. Summary: As a member of the Martin’s Family, the Area Sales Manager is responsible for becoming the supplier/provider of choice within the area continuing to progress the sales through route coaching, store selling, chain store buyer relationships, and institutional selling. The Area Sales Manager is a professional who has a command over the technical details of sales, who can provide leadership to all area sales representatives, who can analyze new and evolving situations, who can communicate technical data to others in a simple and clear manner and who is able to build relationships both internally and externally and who acts as an ambassador for Martin’s. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Possesses comprehensive knowledge of sales and marketing.Communicates effectively and professionally in group settings or in one-on-one interaction and utilizes appropriate communication channels to fit the nature of the communication (on-site meeting, email, video call, etc.).Trains new wholesalers/distributors (Sales Distribution Team or SDT) on Preferred Distribution Guidelines (PDGs). Maintains and expands customer base to meet area sales objectives using all, but not limited to, the following methods:Communicating with SDT on a consistent basis, ensuring follow-through on Preferred Distribution Guidelines (PDGs) and review of sales reports.Building and maintaining rapport with key store customers.Identifying new customer (store or institutional) opportunities.Sharing Martin’s strength and purpose.Monitoring execution and follow-through of sales and marketing programs, including assisting with store resets and ensuring proper promotional pricing and display is enacted .Creates annual sales plans for store changes/institutional sales by analyzing sales reports to project expected sales volumes and profit for existing and new markets/products.Develop and maintain chain store buyer relationships with intent to improve product visibility and sales through promotional offers, quarterly reviews presenting IRI data and market comparisons, and expanding shelf space.Implements field sales actions plans.Maintains sales volumes and product mix by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors.Implementing highest industry customer service standards by resolving problems in an efficient manner, including communicating the issue appropriately across all necessary network contacts.Determines ways that processes can be more efficient and effective and implements necessary changes using thorough planning and effective communication methods.Thinks proactively to develop and implement sales plans for new territories using best practices and all relevant data, keeping the big picture in mind.Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and maintaining personal networks.Adheres to safety, food safety, and food defense regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices, particularly as it relates to Warehouse Food Safety compliance.*Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions*Supervisory Responsibilities:Works in indirect supervisory capacity to educate, train and monitor external wholesalers/distributors in assigned area. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
