Job description

Ace Controls, a leader in velocity controls, is seeking a Machine Operator. After training, operates various production machines including the following: single and multi-spindle drill presses, milling machines, cut-off machines, lathe machines, and washing equipment. May use simple jigs on close tolerance operations.


Responsibilities:

  • Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate machine.
  • Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects of machine malfunction.
  • Performs deburring operations on machined parts.
  • After training, records quality control/assurances information. Specifically fills out SPC charts, p charts, c charts, u charts and np charts as requested.
  • After training, reads simple go/no go gages, ring gages, height gages, plug gages, micrometers, veneer gages.
  • Responsible for quality levels of operations performed.
  • Responsible for simple preventative maintenance of machines.
  • Responsible for housekeeping in work areas.
  • Responsible for the proper documentation regarding timecards, production records and other documentation as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Machine operation experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical processes in order to maintain SPC charts.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Analytical skills to determine when a machine goes out of calibration.
  • The employee must be able to lift and move up to 25 lbs. and frequently lift and move up to 50 lbs.
