Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (Travel)
Location: Mesa, AZ
Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 3×12 Evenings
Pay: $2,185.20/week
Completion Bonus: $2,500 per contract (up to $7,500 after three contracts)
Position Overview
ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Mesa, Arizona. This role requires floating between several ER satellite locations throughout the East Valley region. Schedules are provided in advance so the traveler knows which location to report to for each shift.
The ER nurse will provide high-acuity emergency care, independently managing a 4:1 ratio and serving as one of only two RNs on duty at satellite locations. Travelers must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to the start date and complete a Day 1 pass/fail SIM Lab covering sterile-field skills (Foley insertion and port-a-cath care).
Absolutely no holiday RTO is permitted.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide emergency nursing care to diverse patient populations with varying levels of acuity.
  • Independently manage up to 4 patients at a time in satellite ED locations.
  • Perform rapid triage, initiate emergency protocols, and respond to critical situations.
  • Start IVs, administer medications, perform lab draws, and provide wound care.
  • Perform Foley catheter insertion and port-a-cath care (SIM Lab pass required).
  • Interpret cardiac rhythms and recognize dysrhythmias; must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to start.
  • Monitor vents and provide ventilator-capable care as needed.
  • Document all care and interventions accurately using T-System or Cerner charting.
  • Collaborate with onsite providers and off-site teams to ensure timely care and appropriate escalation.
  • Float to multiple East Valley ER satellite locations including Ahwatukee, Chandler, Gilbert, East Mesa, Mesa Baseline, McQueen, and San Tan Valley.
  • Maintain sterile technique at all times-breaking sterile field in SIM lab results in termination.
  • Uphold safety policies, perform patient restraints education, lifts, and wound-care competencies during orientation.

Qualifications
  • Active RN license (state of AZ or compact).
  • Minimum 1 year of recent ER experience (preferred).
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, TNCC (CPI preferred but not required).
  • Must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to start (2 attempts maximum).
  • Must pass Day 1 SIM Lab for sterile-technique competency (Foley & port-a-cath).
  • Must be comfortable working independently as one of two RNs on shift.
  • Must be able to float to all designated satellite ER locations.
  • Every other weekend required.
  • No holiday RTO permitted.
  • COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious declination accepted).
  • Ability to work Galaxy Blue scrubs per dress code.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required.
