Company Description

Hotel Jerome has been the social hub of Aspen since its opening in 1889 at the height of the town's silver boom, known as the place where all great stories were born and are told. As the only Aspen hotel to survive the silver crash, the long pre-ski-resort winters, and the Depression, we've seen cowboys ride through our doors, 10th Mountain Division soldiers gather round over pints after training on the slopes, and Hunter S. Thompson holding court during his run for sheriff. You can't experience Aspen, without experiencing Jerome.

The targeted compensation wage for this part time year round, non-exempt position is $27/hr plus commissions. The position offers a competitive compensation package presented by Auberge Collection.

Job Description

Cultivate a one-of-a-kind wine list, pairing our guests with delicious food and precisely chosen wine. This role will ensure the wine program is represented beyond the level of expectations by increasing guest satisfaction, sales, and profitability and achieving excellence in wine service.

  • Support the management team in the development and implementation of the strategic plan and vision for the wine programย 
  • Provide leadership and direction in the execution and measurement of guest service standards within wine and beverage operations to ensure continued growth and profitability.ย 
  • Maintain the integrity of the wine program through frequent quality checks of opened wines by the glass.ย 
  • Maintain complete knowledge of;
    • all brands
    • particular characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass
    • bottle selections
    • designated glassware and garnishes for drinks
    • all bar menu items
    • preparation method/time, portion sizes, presentation, and prices.ย 
  • Assist in training staff members on beverage knowledge and systems relating to the wine.ย 
  • Attend wine and beverage tastings and seminars, when available, as part of continuing education to aid in program and personal development.
Qualifications
  • At least two years of experience in a comparable fine dining environment
  • Knowledge of wine, cocktail, and beer menus and the ability to service them accordingly
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
