Job description

POSITION SUMMARY


The Silkscreen operator ensures that the manufacturing processes run effectively and efficiently in a clean, healthy, and safe working environment to produce products that meet specified Quality Standards and Specifications, and which are produced economically and delivered in a timely manner.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Produce printed products from manual and semi-automatic equipment.
  • Silk screen and plate preparation and reclamation.
  • Setup of the feeder for the silk screen printing press
  • Mix inks for appropriate color match.
  • Clean and maintain silk screen press and workstation.
  • Responsible for correct handling, stacking, and covering of material.
  • Mount and Register Screen or Plate frames on equipment.
  • Print customer orders to meet production standards and deadlines.
  • Accurately report quantities completed and scrapped to insure accurate inventory.
  • Verify size, color, and type of substrate and color of ink from job order.
  • Obtain and check screens, squeegee, and related supplies to produce job.
  • Set up press by installing screens, squeegee, flood bar, and by registering stock to press and screen image.
  • Operate UV curing machine.
  • Set dryer for proper drying or curing.
  • Maintain log, complete production records and flag special handling.
  • Continually check order specifications, registration, and color matches against job order details.
  • Print with repeatable results, anticipate, recognize, and correct possible issues with ink and press.
  • Verify and follow all information on the job ticket before printing including ink color matching and verification.
  • Perform quality checks throughout the process.
  • Verify the proper quantity has been printed before cleaning and breaking down for the next job.
  • Embark on the multi-step process of screen making which includes screen stretching, screen selection, degreasing, film emulsion coating, exposure and wash out as well as cleaning and reclaiming after printing.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively communicate with peers and management.
  • Interpretation of sizes, thicknesses and substrates, inks as specified by customers.
  • Related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safety and quality issues related to manufacturing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and troubleshooting printing skills.
  • Well versed in card designs and specifications.
  • Excellent working skills to operate and maintain various printing equipment.
  • Problem-solving mindset

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or higher education required.
  • Previous hands-on experience with silkscreen equipment

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
