Job description

Role: 

The Silicone Rubber Technician operates rubber mixing equipment and performs quality and laboratory testing and analysis to ensure the quality of rubber compounds. The Technician maintains high standards of production quality and contributes to the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand and commit to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Operate rubber mixing machinery efficiently and safely according to established procedures.
  • Weigh and measure raw materials, follow precise formulas, and mix rubber compounds to meet specified requirements.
  • Conduct various laboratory tests on rubber compounds, such as tensile strength, elongation, hardness, and viscosity, to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Perform routine inspections on finished products to verify compliance with quality specifications and promptly address any deviations.
  • Perform routine maintenance on mixing equipment and troubleshoot any operational issues to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, laboratory test results, batch information, and material usage.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines during both equipment operation and laboratory testing. Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth and efficient production processes.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized, including the laboratory, to maintain a safe and productive workspace.

Required Experience, Education, and Skills:

  • Related education/experience in Rubber Mixing.
  • Prior experience as a Rubber Mixer Operator or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Ability to follow precise formulas, maintain high levels of accuracy in weighing and measuring raw materials, and conduct precise laboratory tests.
  • Computer skills, attention to detail and ability to interpret and document test results.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs.), and perform physically demanding tasks as required.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills, problem-solving ability & continuous improvement mindset.
  • Effective communication skills to work collaboratively within a team, report any issues or concerns, and convey laboratory test results.
