Job description

Direct Counsel represents a prestigious AmLaw firm seeking a Privacy & Cybersecurity Litigation Associate with 2–4 years of experience to join its nationally recognized Privacy & Cybersecurity practice.

This opportunity is ideal for an attorney interested in cutting-edge privacy, cybersecurity, and consumer protection litigation. The practice represents clients nationwide in high-profile litigation, class actions, arbitrations, regulatory investigations, and data security matters across a wide range of industries.

Responsibilities:

  • Defend clients in privacy, cybersecurity, and consumer protection litigation matters
  • Handle state and federal court litigation, including class action matters
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery-related documents
  • Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategies
  • Assist with regulatory investigations and enforcement matters
  • Advise clients on privacy and cybersecurity risks, compliance issues, and incident response matters
  • Communicate directly with clients and coordinate with multiple stakeholders on fast-moving matters
  • Support arbitrations, investigations, and complex data privacy disputes

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • 2–4 years of litigation experience
  • Experience with privacy, cybersecurity, consumer protection, or class action litigation preferred
  • Experience defending claims under privacy statutes such as CCPA/CPRA, TCPA, CIPA/ECPA, CMIA, CEMA, COPPA, BIPA, and/or FCRA preferred
  • Exposure to regulatory investigations involving agencies such as the FTC, DOJ, SEC, state attorneys general, or international regulators is a plus
  • Experience with or interest in security incident response
  • Strong understanding of technology and emerging digital platforms
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, writing, and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and client-facing experience
  • Admitted and in good standing with the California Bar

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary range: $235,000 – $310,000 annually
