CNC Manufacturing Lead / Production Supervisor

ZEV Technologies Centralia, WA

Full-Time

This position will be filled at either the CNC Manufacturing Lead or Production Supervisor level based on the experience, technical ability, and leadership background of the selected candidate.

Position Summary

ZEV Technologies is seeking an experienced CNC manufacturing leader to oversee daily operations within our precision machining department.

This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for production execution, employee development, quality, and maintaining an efficient manufacturing operation. The successful candidate is expected to spend the majority of their time on the manufacturing floor supporting operators, coordinating production activities, resolving manufacturing issues, and maintaining production flow.

This position carries significant responsibility for the daily performance of the manufacturing floor and is expected to establish the standard for professionalism, accountability, quality, and execution.


Primary Responsibilities

Production Leadership

· Lead the daily activities of the CNC manufacturing department.

· Monitor production throughout the shift to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

· Coordinate daily priorities to support customer delivery commitments.

· Maintain a strong presence on the production floor and provide direction as production priorities change.

· Promote accountability, teamwork, and professionalism throughout the department.

Employee Leadership

· Train, mentor, and develop machinists and operators.

· Establish clear performance expectations and hold employees accountable to company standards.

· Provide coaching and constructive feedback to support employee development.

· Address performance concerns promptly and professionally.

· Foster an environment built on communication, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Manufacturing Support

· Support machine setups and production as required.

· Troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, workholding, and process-related issues.

· Assist operators in identifying root causes of manufacturing problems.

· Work with engineering and programming to resolve technical issues requiring additional support.

· Implement corrective actions that improve long-term process stability and repeatability.

Quality

· Reinforce quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.

· Monitor scrap, rework, and recurring manufacturing issues.

· Ensure manufacturing processes and work instructions are consistently followed.

· Support root cause investigations and corrective actions.

· Maintain a manufacturing environment where quality is built into the process rather than inspected in afterward.

Continuous Improvement

· Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.

· Improve workflow, machine utilization, and manufacturing consistency.

· Recommend and implement process improvements.

· Support the development of standardized manufacturing practices.

Minimum Qualifications

· Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience in a production manufacturing environment.

· Previous experience in a leadership role such as Lead Machinist, CNC Manufacturing Lead, Cell Lead, Shift Lead, Production Lead, Production Supervisor, Manufacturing Supervisor, Shop Supervisor, or similar position.

· Demonstrated ability to lead employees, maintain accountability, and support team development.

· Strong understanding of CNC machining, machine setup, tooling, workholding, offsets, feeds and speeds, and troubleshooting.

· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.

· Experience using precision inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges.

· Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.

· Ability to prioritize work and respond effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with Horizontal Machining Centers (HMCs).

· Experience with Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs).

· Experience with 4-axis and 5-axis machining.

· Experience with CNC EDM.

· Experience implementing process improvements.

· Experience with ERP systems (Odoo preferred).

· Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
