Job description

Job Title: Part-Time Facilities Maintenance Tech
Reports To: Facilities Manager

This is a part-time, nonexempt position. The Facilities Maintenance Tech is responsible for building services including safety, security, and cleanliness as directed by the Facilities Manager.

Brief Description of Duties:

Facilities:

  • Develop and maintain all SIHO facilities to assure compliance with federal and state OSHA requirements.
  • Monitor all areas of all SIHO facilities to assure maintenance, cleanliness, and upkeep complies with SIHOโ€™s corporate standards of public appearance.
  • Assure SIHO is in compliance with PAA regulations in disposing of materials with Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Work with SIHOโ€™s Information Technology department to assure consistency in telephone and electronic communications (voice/data cabling activities) at all SIHO locations.
  • Contribute to positive financial results by minimizing site waste and rework and effective use of materials.

  • Other duties as assigned by the manager.
  • Present a professional appearance at all times both on and off SIHO property.
  • Practice sound public relations and marketing skills at all times.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills.
  • Maintain a sense of urgency in meeting facility needs.
  • Serve as back-up for all aspects of mail distribution, pick-up and sort mail and parcels; run mailing equipment, shipping and receiving services, lift large bundles of mail, handle overnight packages and shipments.

Minimum Skills Requirement:

  • Associateโ€™s Degree or equivalent work experience in facilities management.
  • Demonstrate abilities as a problem solver.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for self and co-workers at all times.
  • Ability to project and maintain a positive attitude and communicate (orally, written, email) effectively at all levels both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of facilities maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member, successfully at a self-directed pace in a changing, multi-task environment.
  • Ability to successfully work under, and meet, tight deadlines assuring optimum work environment for all SIHO employees.
  • Demonstrate general maintenance and carpentry skills:
    • Drywall Repair
    • Painting
    • Minor Electrical Work

Workspace Environment:

The work environment ranges from aย  climate controlled office environment to a warehouse environment where HVAC equipment may be minimal or nonexistent and may also include outside work in all kinds of inclement weather and temperatures.

For safety reasons good visual acuity is necessary as well as good manual dexterity. The ability to walk, stand for long periods of time, climb ladders, and negotiate uneven surfaces is required. Lifting is required; 15-20 pounds regularly, 25-50 pounds frequently and 50-100 pounds occasionally.

In certain aspects of this position it may not be possible to make reasonable accommodations for someone to perform these job functions. For the safety of the individual and co-workers you should be able to perform of the job functions listed above without accommodation.

The individual in this position should posses a valid Indiana vehicle operatorโ€™s license.

Work Hours/Compensation:

This is a part-time exempt, hourly position (up to 29 hours each week). The normal workday is expected to be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday or other hours as may be required to complete important or time sensitive projects.
