Job Summary
Sr. Mechanical Eng supports the EB Futures programs as a primary technical expert on weapon structural design, outer mold line definition, and signature management integration efforts for advanced weapon programs. In this role, the individual evaluates structural load requirements derived from the threshold platform interface, assesses weapon outer mold line geometry for aerodynamic and signature performance compatibility, and characterizes the mechanical and thermal environment produced by the threshold platform at all approved carriage stations. The specialist provides authoritative technical guidance on structural qualification methodology, OML producibility, signature management material integration, and the mechanical interface compliance standards that govern weapon carriage certification and platform clearance. A minimum of 15 years of experience in weapon or airborne system structural design and outer mold line engineering is required, along with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. A Master's degree in a like field is preferred, demonstrating continued and up-to-date educational standards in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
Essential Job Functions
During proposal evaluations and funded study oversight, the specialist reviews and scores contractor technical approaches to structural design, OML definition methodology, signature management material selection, and structural qualification planning. The individual assesses the technical credibility of contractor mechanical integration approaches against government-established system requirements, evaluates whether proposed structural and OML designs adequately address the carriage load environment and signature threshold requirements defined in the weapon system specification, and produces independent government technical evaluation reports that directly support program office selection and funding decisions. The specialist participates in monthly technical interchange meetings with funded study performers, provides government technical direction on structural verification approaches and OML design trades, and supports the Technical Directors in midpoint go/no-go assessments of funded feasibility studies. This position operates under the direction of the Technical Directors and coordinates directly with the platform program office and applicable signature certification authority on mechanical interface characterization, OML clearance submissions, and signature management compliance matters.
Requirements of the job:
1) An active TS/SCI clearance is required.
2) SAP access experience is required given the classification level of signature management program data.
3) Candidate must be in place at Eglin AFB.
4) US citizenship required.
