Job description

As a Crew Lead Tree Climber, you will play a crucial role in managing and executing tree care operations within our company. You will lead a team of tree climbers and ground crew members to ensure the safe and efficient completion of tree pruning, removal, and maintenance projects. Your expertise in tree climbing techniques, safety protocols, and leadership skills will be essential in driving the success of our operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and motivate a team of tree climbers and ground crew members to achieve project goals efficiently and safely.
  • Utilize advanced tree climbing techniques to access trees of varying heights and conditions for pruning, removal, and maintenance.
  • Ensure that all crew members always adhere to safety protocols and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries.
  • Plan and organize daily tasks, assign responsibilities to crew members, and oversee the execution of tree care projects according to schedule and budget.
  • Maintain and inspect climbing gear, tools, and equipment regularly to ensure they are in safe and working condition.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their tree care needs, provide recommendations, and address any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to crew members to enhance their skills and proficiency in tree climbing and tree care techniques.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed, including time sheets, project documentation, and inventory management.

Job Qualifications (refers to job, not incumbent):

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with eighth-grade reading level. Must complete at least 16 hours of continuing education credits annually.

Required Certification/ Licensure:

  • Valid state driverโ€™s license. Qualified to drive company vehicles.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years of experience as a tree climber, with demonstrated proficiency in advanced climbing techniques and arboricultural practices.
  • Strong leadership abilities with the ability to effectively lead and manage a team in a dynamic work environment.

Physical and Working Demands:

  • Heavy lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Regular exposure to the outside environment including rain, cold, sun, or night.
  • Repetitive movements such as standing, walking, twisting, turning, bending, squatting, and stooping.
