Position Summary

This internship provides a hands-on, real-world Systems Engineering experience for a highly motivated and analytical candidate. This position reports directly to the Systems Engineering Director under the Space and Satellite segment, offering rare visibility and exposure for an intern-level role.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and refine digital signal processing algorithms used in channelization, filtering, and modulation/demodulation workflows.
  • Analyze algorithm performance through MATLAB- and Python‑based simulation test benches, including frequency‑domain and time‑domain characterization.
  • Assistin validating DSP algorithm functionality against system-level requirements, including bandwidth constraints, SNR performance, and spectral compliance.
  • Investigate and compare candidate DSP architectures—such as FFT-based channelizers, polyphase filter banks, and multi-rate processing chains—to recommend optimized designs.
  • Support the integration of DSP components into larger satellite communication system models, ensuring accurate end‑to‑end signal flow.
  • Contribute to algorithm documentation, test reports, and engineering design reviews related to DSP development.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a graduate-level Digital Signal Processing (DSP) course
  • At least one course in Communications Theory
  • Proficiencyin MATLAB (experience with C/C++ or Python for simulation is a plus)
  • Familiarity with multi-rate signal processing is desirable
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to write clearly and concisely

Required Education

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant Master’s Degree program (Electrical Engineering, Wireless Communications, or related discipline)
